IBL: Cats Catch the Birds

The Hamilton Thunderbirds can’t tame the Baycats and come away with a loss at their home opener.

Starting pitcher Jordell Farquharson took the loss for the T-Birds, giving up three runs in the first two innings. The Barrie Baycats would add a total of eleven runs in the first six innings to push the Thunderbirds to an 11-0 lead.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the eighth inning before the Thunderbirds finally got on the scoreboard, scoring three runs.

The team had a total of six errors during the game, some of which were missed opportunities at inning ending plays. Through the errors that plagued the team during the game, the Thunderbirds played solid baseball.

Despite the loss, Field Manager Matt Fortuna is keeping positive. “That was a tough game today. Things like that happen. We will remain positive because that wasn’t a true representation of the team.”

With the loss the team is now winless this season, with three straight losses.
