The Hamilton Thunderbirds (2-7) traveled to Barrie (4-1) Thursday evening looking for a third straight win, but came back on the losing side. Hamilton struck first on the scoreboard but fell by the end to the Baycats 11-2.
Darnell Duckett and Dan Jagdeo started things off for Hamilton with back to back singles before Adam Durfee hit a single of his own, putting Duckett across the plate. Hamilton took an early lead in the game going up 1-0 after the top of the first inning.
Barrie would come back scoring nine unanswered runs over the next six innings to take a 9-1 lead. Johnathan Solazzo would double in the seventh inning to drive Adam Durfee in, but the Thunderbirds could not mount a comeback as Barrie would add two more before the game was done.
Graeme Carey went 3 for 4 during the game with three hits. Durfee and Solazzo had Hamilton’s two RBIs. Ryan VanSpronsen took the loss giving up eight runs, six earned, on eight hits and two walks. VanSpronsen struck out one batter in the 3.1 innings.
With the loss the Thunderbirds fall to 2-8 on the season.
