It’s countdown to faceoff! In less than two weeks, the Dundas Real McCoys and the Stoney Creek Generals will meet in the best of seven Allan Cup Hockey semi-finals.
Then the race for the Allan Cup Trophy will be on.
“It will be a battle like every other year, when we meet in a best-of-seven semifinal series. However, we only have dates for the first two games at this point,” said Don Robertson, President and General Manager of the Dundas Real McCoys.
Game one of the 2018-19 playoff will be played on Tuesday February 21st at 7:15 in the Stoney Creek Ice Centre with the second game in the Harry Howell Arena on Wednesday, February 22nd at 8 p.m.
“In preparation for that series, we have used our last three player cards to ink Shawn Snider, Omar Ennaffati, and Paul McIlveen. Both Snider and Ennaffati having coaching schedules that will permit them to begin playing again,” said Robertson.
Ennaffati is back for a second campaign with the McCoys while Shawn Snider is back for his fifth go around with Dundas. In his four previous campaigns, Snider played 70 games, scored 31 goals and assisted on 66 other scoring plays for 97 points. He had flour powerplay goals, one shorthanded goal and four game winning goals.
McIlveen played for the Brantford Blast in 2017-18 and scored six goals and had 11 assists in 15 games.
The McCoys have three regular season games remaining, one each with Hamilton, Whitby and Stoney Creek. The game with the Generals is a big one for two reasons, it is the final regular season game for the McCoys, and it is a fundraising event for Margaret’s Place Hospice on Family Day, Monday, February 18th at 2 p.m. in the Howell Arena.
In addition, Dundas will play a playoff tune-up with the Steelhawks on Friday, February 15th in Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. before travelling to Whitby, the following night to play the Dunlops at 6:30 p.m.
