MAC 14U boys win Silver medal in Kitchener

The MAC 14U boys recently travelled to Kitchener to compete in the McGregor Cup, Championship division.

The boys began their day as the top ranked team in their pool and played well to remain undefeated through the morning beating the Guelph Jr Gryphons in straight sets (25-9, 25-10) and the EVP Eagles, also in straight sets (25-16, 25-3). Their top ranking and undefeated pool play earned them a bye for the first round of afternoon playoffs.

In quarter-final play, they faced off against Pakman Black 13U who they defeated in straight sets (25-17, 25-10), advancing to the next round. Their best two of three semi-final round saw the MAC boys match up against the Kitchener/Waterloo Predators; they prevailed again winning in two sets (25-18, 25-15), and setting up a final with season rival Milton Razors Edge.

As expected, it was a hard fought match and the athletes treated us to some excellent rallies and game play. Despite several come back attempts and a late game run, the boys fell short losing both games 25-21, and were awarded the silver medal.

Team members include: Coen Raymond (Hamilton) Eden Cheifetz and William Siefker (West Hamilton), Coach Bob Rath and Sam Rath (Waterdown), Gus Van Dasselaar, Jonathan Trikoupis, Dillan Morphet, Alex McKague, and Coaches Nick Trikoupis and Mark. McKague (Ancaster), and Luka Stankovic (Stoney Creek).
