MAC volleyball’s 14U Cobalt team took part in the Trillium A Challenge Cup over the weekend and game away with a banner performance. The boys had a back and fourth performance through the course of the tourney but came away with the Gold Medal by the time the event ended.
The stage was set at the Heritage Christian School Jordan Station on Saturday, January 11th.
MAC went 3-6 in the opening round robin rounds, facing off against the London Sharks first. After narrowly losing their opening set against London 28-30, the boys came back in the second set and pulled off a 25-13 win. The third and deciding set would go the other way though with the Sharks again edging by MAC 15-17. The opposite was true in the second series in the round robin with MAC taking the first and third sets against Pakmen Black, winning their sets 25-21 and 15-9 and dropping the middle set 8-25 to Pakmen.
MAC made quick work of the Waterloo in the quarter-finals, sweeping the Tigers in straight sets (25-17, 25-21) before once again meeting Pakmen Black in the semi-final round. The semi-finals went much the same way as it did in the round robin with MAC winning two sets to one (25-20, 17-25, 15-6).
That set the stage for the Gold Medal match.
MAC 14U Cobalt faced off against T West Talons in the finals and came out on top in the same fashion as they had in the previous round. MAC handily won the first set 25-13 before being edged in the second set by the Talons 22-25. MAC would rebound in the final set 15-8 however to take the series and the Gold Medal.
Congratulations MAC 14U Cobalt on your Gold Medal performance!
