MAC 14U Cobalt takes Silver at McGregor Cup

MAC 14U Cobalt took the silver medal yesterday at the McGregor Cup in the Championship A Division.

MAC played in four round robin matches at Leamington District Secondary School on Saturday, sweeping their series with SkyVolley in straight sets, losing another to the Toronto Thunderbolts Hurricanes in straight sets, and splitting sets with Oakville and Phoenix to wrap up the round robin.

Headed to the semi-finals it would be the Toronto Thunderbolts Hurricanes who would be MAC’s opponents. After losing their only round robin match to Toronto, the boys had an uphill battle and something to prove. After Toronto took the first set of the best-of-three match 25-12, MAC found their footing and won back to back sets (25-22, 15-9) to win the semi-final.

The Gold Medal match would bring MAC to their opponents in the very first round robin match, Oakville.

The boys got off to a touch start in the Gold Medal match when Oakville took a decisive victory 25-9 in the opening set, but MAC rallied back in the second set to even the match with a 25-22 set victory. It all came down to the final set but it was Oakville who came away with the win and the Gold medal, winning the final set 15-11.

Congratulations MAC 14U Cobalt on your Silver Medal!
