The Hamilton Kilty B’s started off 2020 on the right foot with a victory over the visiting Pelham Panthers. Jacob Macdonald and Ellis Rickwood both scored a pair of goals as the Kilty B’s defeated Pelham 6-2.
The first period was all Hamilton with the boys scoring a pair of goals through the opening twenty minutes. Jacob Macdonald got things started with his goal just five minutes into the period. That goal was followed up five minutes later with Justin Dezoete’s marker at 10:36 of the period.
Pelham got on the board midway through the second period thanks to a short handed goal from Jordan Tutt. The goal was scored at 7:49 of the middle frame and cut the Hamilton lead in half. That two goal lead would be restored just a few minutes later as Macdonald netted his second goal of the game at 10:36 of the period.
Not giving an inch, the Panthers bounced back with another goal at 4:09 of the third period to once again eat into the Kilty B’s lead. That lead wouldn’t be chipped away any further as Hamilton scored two goals in two minute midway through the period. Ellis Rickwood found the back of the net in his first of the game at 10:46 of the third period followed quickly with Nick Giamou’s lamp lighter at 11:21 of the period. Rickwood would add one final goal for emphasis at 18:16 of the period to cap off the game.
Justin Easter made 21 saves on 23 shots in between the pipes for the black and gold.
The win improves Hamilton’s record to 20-11-2-1. The team shits in fourth place in the Golden Horseshoe Conferences, three points behind the St. Catharines Falcons.
Next up the Kilty B’s will see Pelham once more when they complete the second game of a home and home series on Sunday. Puck drop at the Pelham Meridian is set for 2:30pm.
