For the first time since 1994 when the Bishop’s Gaiters invaded old Les Prince Field, McMaster will host a pre-season football game as the Marauders will welcome the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to Hamilton on Friday, August 25th, with a 7-pm kick-off at Ron Joyce Stadium.
“Holding the bye in week-one of the OUA schedule, we saw a tremendous opportunity to do something special for our fans and bringing in a perennial contender from Canada-West, like the Huskies, will be outstanding preparation for our young team,” said Marauder Coach Greg Knox.
The Huskies will be led by Head Coach Scott Flory, recently appointed to the top job after the retirement of long-time Saskatchewan coach Brian Towriss. Saskatchewan has had a tremendous record in Canada-West, having won 18 league titles, nine National Bowl semifinals, and three Vanier Cup Championships (1990, 1996, 1998).
With the complete 2017 McMaster football schedule now confirmed, Marauder season tickets will go ON SALE on Thursday, April 27th.
This year’s season ticket package includes five home games at Ron Joyce stadium, including the pre-season tilt with Saskatchewan. An added value for reserved seat holders will see them receive a ticket to the 2017 ArcillorMittal Dofasco Vanier Cup game being played at Tim Horton’s Field on November 25th, as part of their Marauder season ticket package.
