For a second consecutive match, the Marauders were unable to craft a goal and were ultimately punished with a loss, as they completed a two-match weekend without a point Sunday.
McMaster saw a penalty stopped, and all three shots on target turned away, in dropping a 1-0 decision to Guelph on the road.
The decisive goal came in the 78th minute through Gryphons forward Vanessa Mazur, who found the back of the net with one of only two shots on goal for the hosts on the afternoon.
But it proved to be enough to secure all three points for Guelph, as McMaster was held off the scoresheet for the second time in three days.
With the loss, the Marauders fell to 2-2-2 on the season, after opening the campaign with a pair of wins.
Next up McMaster returns home to Ron Joyce Stadium to launch Homecoming Weekend with a Friday night contest against the Brock Badgers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14.
