McMaster Trio Named to Canadian Junior National Men’s Volleyball Team

McMaster’s status as a hotbed of young volleyball talent was reinforced on Monday, as three Marauders were selected to the Canadian Junior National Men’s Team after a week-long camp in Gatineau, Quebec.

Outsides Brandon Koppers and Andrew Richards return to the team for a second-consecutive year, while middle recruit Stephen Kary will make his first appearance for the U21 team.

The Marauders were key pieces in the junior team that stormed to the finals of the NORCECA Junior Championships a year ago, clinching a place at this summer’s FIVB World Junior Championships in the process. Canada will, as a result, have a full slate of international competitions in 2015.

After the tune-up of the Pan Am Cup in Gatineau, which will run between June 21 and 28, Canada will travel to Gwangju, South Korea to compete in the 2015 Universiade from July 3 to 14. The extended tour concludes with the World Junior Championships in Mexico between September 11 and 20.
