Taking an early lead, the Marauders continued to build on it as Friday’s match progressed, and ultimately came away with a 63-15 win over the Western Mustangs to cap the OUA regular season.
The duo of hooker Jack McRogers and fly half Nathan Pinder each crossed the try line three times in the victory, while Moamen Elhendawi, Shane Taylor and Tyler Gagne each added solo tries.
Pinder added to his point total on the afternoon with a trio of converts to end the day as McMaster’s leading scorer with 21 points, while scrum half Cole Brown kicked three converts himself and added a pair of penalty goals for 12 points.
McMaster was hit for the game’s first try, but recovered to take a 10-5 lead and were never caught from there, conceding just one more try to Western in the first half.
It was one-way traffic in the second half, and McRogers, Pinder and Gagne closed the scoring to put the game beyond all doubt in the final 20 minutes.
NEXT UP: McMaster will play host to the Trent Excalibur in an OUA quarterfinal at Ten Acre Field on Saturday, October 26.
