The Hamilton Nationals played in their first home game of the season in front of a crowd at Ron Joyce Stadium, but couldn’t outfly the Chesapeake Bayhawks as they lost a hard fought game 14-10.
The Bayhawks opened up the scoring 2:11 into the first quarter, which was quickly tied up by Jordan Hall two minutes later. Garrett Billings pushed the Nationals into the lead less than a minute later at 5:19.
Chesapeake then began a seven goal run into the second quarter to push the Bayhawks to an 8-2 lead. Hamilton would add a pair of goals before the half from Jeremy Boltus and Garrett Billing’s second of the night.
The Nationals outplayed the Bayhawks during the second half of the game scoring five goals to the Bayhawk’s four. Garrett Billings, Jeremy Boltus, Jordan Hall, Donny Moss and Brodie Merrill (2pt) all had goals for Hamilton during the second half.
With the loss the Hamilton Nationals fall to 0-2 on the season. The team has next week off and returns to the field June 10th when they visit the Rochester Rattlers (0-1). The next home game for the Nationals is June 18th from Ron Joyce Stadium when Hamilton hosts the Denver Outlaws.
