The Hamilton Nationals opened their inaugural season with a loss, falling 18-10 in Denver against the Outlaws.
The team remained competitive during much of the game with comparable scoring during the first, second and fourth quarters. Denver proved too much much for the Nationals during the third quarter outscoring the Nats 8-1 to pull away.
The Outlaws scored first just over a minute into the first quarter and quickly added two more before Jordan Hall got Hamilton on the scoreboard, scoring unassisted at 5:10 in the first. Cody Jamieson and Joe Walters would add additional Nationals goals as the Nats played catchup, eventually ending the first quarter trailing 5-3.
Hamilton actually outscored the Outlaws in the second quarter and broke even in the fourth quarter in goals. Were it not for the disastrous third quarter the game might have been more satisfying for hometown lacrosse fans getting their first taste of professional lacrosse in Hamilton.
Jarrett Davis scored a trio of goals for Hamilton while Geoff Snider, Brian Christopher (2pt goal), and a second by Jordan Hall added to Hamilton’s effort.
The Nationals are now 0-1 on the season.
