The Mohawk men’s volleyball team completed it’s OCAA regular season with a 30-28, 25-18, 25-11 victory over the Humber Hawks Wednesday (Feb. 15) at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
Trevor McLaughlin had nine kills and one assist for the Mountaineers, while Eric Girard added seven kills and one stuff block. Chris Spack had 26 assists.
For Humber, Clayton Blanchette collected 10 kills, while Alex Gibbs and Michael Majcen had six kills apiece.
The Mountaineers finished the regular season with a 16-2 record, just behind Fanshawe, which went 17-1. Humber wound up 10-8.
Mohawk is playing host to the OCAA Championship February 23-25.
The Humber women’s volleyball team capped off a perfect 18-0 record in OCAA regular season play, scoring a 3-0 victory over Mohawk. The set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-11, for the Hawks, who got eight kills, four aces and one stuff block from Devan O’Connor.
Amanda Kuiper of the Mountaineers had nine kills, one ace and 11 assists. Yvonne Mann had eight kills, one ace, 12 assists and one block.
The Mountaineers, who showed marked improvement this year, will make it to post season play, finishing fifth in the West Division, with a 9-9 record.
