Mohawk Basketball Picks up a Pair of Wins

Mohawk returned to the OCAA basketball schedule after the holiday break. The men turned in a less than convincing 78-73 victory at Niagara on Wednesday.

Matt Savel scored 24 points and added five assists. Matt Fennell had 23 points and six rebounds and Andrew Cicuttini scored 12 points and had six boards.

The Mountaineers improved to 8-2, while Niagara fell to 3-7.

Meantime, the Mohawk women moved to an impressive 9-1 record with a 67-57 triumph over Niagara, which dropped to 5-5.

Jakayla Douse led the Mountaineers with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jen Jen Abella had 12 points, while Stef Hrymak and Rachelle Abella contributed 11 each.
