Mohawk Loses Double Dip in Windsor Softball

The home town St. Clair Saints swept the Mohawk Mountaineers 2-0 and 11-1 in five innings, in OCAA women’s softball at Mic Mac Park in Windsor Friday (Sep. 14).

In what Mohawk head coach Todd Bannister called a “great game,” the Saints just squeezed by the Mountaineers in the opener, despite a fine route going performance by pitcher Alyssa Van der Wert. Shelby Hayward had two hits for Mohawk.

In game two, St. Clair exploded for eight runs in the second inning.

Shelby Harward had a triple and Alyx Vachon added a two base hit, for Mohawk.

Brianne Forti was tagged with the defeat.

The Mountaineers will try to turn things around when they visit the Seneca Sting Tuesday (Sep.18) at Seneca Fields in North York, with the first pitch set for 6:00 pm
