Mohawk Medals In Women’s Indoor Soccer

The Mohawk women’s indoor soccer team captured the bronze medal in the OCAA Championships at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan Friday (March 22).

Alyssa O’Brien’s goal, early in the second half, stood up as the winner over the St. Clair Saints. Sabrina Mariani, who had an excellent championship in goal, recorded the shutout.

The Mountaineers made the semi finals of the event, but were beaten 3-1 by the Humber Hawks earlier in the day. Daniela Cardillo got the Mohawk goal.

Humber, the championship host, then moved to the final and defeated the Fanshawe Falcons 4-2 and won the women’s gold medal.

In men’s play, the George Brown Huskies won the gold medal, defeating Fanshawe 1-0.

The UTM Eagles took the men’s bronze, 2-0 over the Sheridan Bruins.
