The Mohawk women’s basketball team saw their record slip to 1-9, losing 85-57 at Conestoga to open the second semester of the OCAA season.
The Condors, who bettered their mark to 5-6, got 25 points and 11 rebounds from Jamila Beckford and 19 points from Megan White.
Sam Pocrnic paced the Mountaineers with 16 points. Kayla Calura got 15 points and Beth Minielly had 13.
Despite the defeat Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy felt his team played better than the score indicates. “We missed lots of easy shots and had a few bad breaks. We still need to stop long runs against us. We do so many things well, then shoot ourselves in the foot with mental lapses,” Duffy said. But the coach also praised his players’ effort and determination.
