Mohawk Takes Saul Twice in OCAA Hoops

Mohawk’s basketball teams continued their winning ways in OCAA action against Sault College Friday night (Jan. 16).

The Mountaineer women rolled to their 10th consecutive win, with a 75-42 decision over the Cougars.

Rachelle Abella paced Mohawk with 13 points, seven assists and six steals. Brittany Gazzola had 12 points and Stef Hrymak added eight.

The Mountaineers are now 10-1 and the Sault fell to 1-9.

The Mohawk men, improved to 9-2, pasting the Cougars 112-75. Matt Fennell scored 35 points and had six rebounds and six assists. Patrick Iavarone scored 12 points and Lamar Barr picked up 11.

The Mountaineers made 15 three-pointers and had 32 assists on 42 made baskets. The Sault’s record fell to 1-9.

The same teams play Saturday. The women hit the court at 1:00 pm and the men at 3:00 pm.
