Mohawk Wins George Brown Men’s Basketball Title

The Mohawk Mountaineers tuned up for the start of second semester play in the OCAA, by winning the George Brown Huskies men’s basketball tournament Saturday.

The Mountaineers downed the host Huskies 101-72 in the championship game.

“It was a good way to go into the second semester,” said Mountaineers’ head coach Brian Jonker. “We played well in transition all weekend. We are excited about the next two months leading up to Nationals.”

Matt Fennell scored 30 points and added six rebounds. Andrew Cicuttini had 16 points and 12 rebounds, O.J. Watson collected 13 points and six boards and Matt Savel chipped in with 13 points as well.

Fennell was named the Tournament MVP and Cicuttini was a tourney all-star.

The Mountaineers’ men’s basketball team also won the St. Lawrence College Vikings Basketball Tournament back in October.
