It was one of those good news, bad news scenarios.
The Mohawk women’s softball team got a great effort from pitcher Kelsey Hanly and blanked the Seneca Sting 2-0 in the first of two games at a chilly Mohawk Sports Park Friday (Oct. 5).
However, in the nightcap, Seneca scored four times in an extra inning and then held on for a 9-6 win – their first ‘W’ of the season.
It left them with a record of 1-21, while the Mountaineers fell to 4-12.
Mohawk head coach Todd Bannister, recapping the night, said Hanly pitched a great game in the opener.
As far as game two is concerned, the coach said “Kudos to Seneca. The Sting have lost a lot of close games this season and they deserved the win tonight.”
