Mountaineers Blanked in Women’s Softball

The Mohawk women’s softball team lost its eighth consecutive game, dropping a 10-0, five inning decision to Durham, in OCAA action in Oshawa Wednesday (Sept. 24).

The Lords set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning against Mountaineers’ starter and loser Dana Heyerichs.

Despite the lopsided defeat, the Mountaineers played a lot better in this one. “We had four hits and struck out only three times,” said Mohawk head coach Brian Weller. “We were making contact at the plate, but hitting the ball at people. Also, four of the runs were unearned.

With their win, Durham improved to 6-3.

Mohawk visits Conestoga for two games Saturday (Sept. 27). Their next home action will be Sunday  (Sept. 28) in another doubleheader, as they meet  Seneca at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm at Mohawk Sports Park.
