Mountaineers still undefeated in women’s basketball

The Mohawk women’s basketball team keeps rolling along. The Mountaineers blasted the Lambton Lions from Sarnia 87-37 in Hamilton and upped their record to 6-0. The Lions dropped to 0-5.

Jasmina Kucic was at it again with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Abby Heron had 15 points, Stef Hrymak hooped 13 and Maddy Darling chipped in with 11.

“It was a good game overall,” said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy. “After a slow start we picked it up and had real good ball movement on offence and did a great job of hitting open shots, going 40 percent (13/33) from the arc. The defensive intensity and execution picked in the second half. It was great to see because that has been a focal point for us,” said Duffy.
