NDJHL: Glanbrook Shuts Out Blues

The first battle of Hamilton for the 2011-12 season is in the books and with the visiting team claiming victory in the opening contest. The Glanbrook Rangers came away with the victory, keeping Dundas off the scoreboard.

After a scoreless first period, with saw both teams evenly matched in total shots on net, Glanbrook didn’t wait long into the second period to light up the scoreboard. Brennan Luscombe opened the scoring for Glanbrook just 56 seconds into the second period. Nicolas Kuiper followed up the goal with one of his own just over a minute later. Kuiper scored a power play goal at 2:21.

The Rangers would seal the victory in the third period with three more goals. Cal Smith, Alexander Cappelletti and Kevin Matthews scored for the Rangers.

With the game the Glanbrook Rangers take the top spot in the East Division with 7 points, one spot above Grimsby who they were defeated by the night before. Glanbrook has a record of 3-0-1. The Dundas Blues are at .500 with the loss, with a win-loss record of 2-2-0, and are tied with Chippawa for third place.

Dundas will travel to Caledonia next on Friday night while Glanbrook hosts Caledonia on Wednesday night.
