New Mohawk’s Men’s Curling Rink Starts Up

The OCAA Curling Championships will be hosted by Mohawk College February 14-17 and it’s a new Mountaineer men’s rink representing the college.

The foursome includes Skip Dylan Robertson, Vice Jared Summers, Second Mike Timmon and Lead Nick Noworyta. Other than Robertson, the rink has little experience.

Head coach Betty Calic said part of the challenge at any bonspiel is figuring out ice conditions and the Mohawk men failed to execute consistently enough against Fanshawe, Fleming and event host Humber at the East York Curling Club Friday (Jan. 4). Therefore they couldn’t generate much offense.

Robertson played exceptionally well, according to the coach and showed a new level of maturity, which will be key for the upstart Mohawk rink.
