Niagara roars early and hold off Honey Badgers 108-96

The Niagara River Lions took an early lead over the Hamilton Honey Badgers on Wednesday night and never relented. While Hamilton got the score close and narrowed the gap in the fourth quarter they couldn’t close the gap as they were defeated by Niagara 108-96.

The Honey Badgers never managed to take the lead during the game from the Meridan Centre, while the River Lions at one point held a commanding 26 point lead. Hamilton struggled to get baskets to fall through much of the game. The Honey Badgers were only 30% from beyond the arc and only 50% from the floor. While they fared much better on free throws at 58% the River Lions were had the edge on the night.

Demetrius Denzel-Dyson had 20 points including 6 rebounds for the Honey Badgers. Caleb Agada had 19 points off the bench while Sampson Carter contributed 18 points. Ryan Ejim had 16 points while Ricky Tarrant Jr. had 11 points, including 4 rebounds and 8 assists.

The loss drops the Honey Badgers to 7-4 on the season while the River Lions improve to 9-2.

Next up the Hamilton Honey Badgers will finish up their road trip when they visit the Expo Centre in Edmonton next Thursday, July 4th. They will take on the Stingers starting at 9:00pm ET.
