OJHL: Red Wings Blanked by Raiders

The Hamilton Red Wings couldn’t find a way to beat the Raiders netminder as they lose their opening visit from Georgetown 5-0.

Georgetown went 2 for 8 on the powerplay on the night. Tyson Fawcett opened the scoring for Georgetown at 3:30 of the first period after Hamilton’s Oliver Hyman was penalized for high sticking. Mike Charbonneau would add a goal less than two minutes later to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Fawcett added his second goal of the game in the second period at 8:39 and added an assist at 11:36 on the goal by Manny Gialedakis, who also picked up two assists in the game. Georgetown would add a fifth and final goal midway through the third period to take the game.

With the defeat the Red Wings drop below .500 with a record of 4 wins, 5 losses and 1 overtime loss. Hamilton sits in second place in the West Division, two points behind the division leaders Buffalo.

Hamilton has the next week off with their next game set for next Thursday October 13th when the team travels to Newmarket to take on the Hurricanes. The next Red Wings home game back at Mountain Arena is set for Monday October 17th when the Red Wings host the Milton Icehawks.
