Owens powers Blast into final

Just when the Dundas Real McCoys appeared to have the game under control, Brantford Blast rallied for two quick third-period goals to edge the McCoys 5-4, and win the best-of-five Allan Cup Hockey semifinal series tonight in the JL Grightmire Arena.

Brantford will now play the Hamilton Steelhawks in the best-of-seven ACH final, which opens Friday night in the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena at 7:30 p.m.

The McCoys two-game winning streak came to a sudden end as Brantford’s Jordan Owens connected on an unassisted powerplay goal at 18:48 with Trevor Atkinson of the McCoys serving a high sticking minor.

Owens scored twice for Brantford with single goals going to Cam Fergus, Nathan Pageau, and Rob Hisey. Martin Lee and Nick Tuzzolino assisted on two scoring plays apiece.

For Dundas, Jake Goldberg, Mackenzie Wood, Ryan Watson, and Dan LaPointe replied with single goals.
