Saturday night The Steel City Patriots entertained the Tri City Outlaws in Northern Football Conference quarterfinal playoff action at Nelson stadium before a raucous crowd looking to enjoy the first home playoff date in the teams NFC existence.
The game was a series of firsts for SCP as along with the first home playoff game it was also the first NFC Playoff win for SCP as they downed the Tri City Outlaws 31-0 off of QB Josh Madden’s 3 touchdowns passing to Jordan Steuer and Johan Jenkins in the first quarter to make it 13-0. he then followed it up with a pass of 49yds to Steven “Skittles” Maynard to make it 19 – 0 early in the fourth quarter. Dan Macnicoll and Tyler Bistrovich each followed that up with interception returns of 60 and 38 yds to make it 31-0 and sealing the victory for SCP.
Leading the way for The Pats offensively was running back Dan Seymour who had 116 yds on 14 carries and Johan Jenkins who had 70 yds and 1 TD on 4 receptions. Defensively it was a team mentality as The vaunted defence allowed 116 yds of total offence and intercepted 5 passes and recovered 3 fumbles and scored two pick sixes along the way.
Up next is semi-final action as the SCP Patriots take on The Sarnia Imperials who defeated the Toronto Phantom Raiders 47-0 at home Saturday night.
In other action it was GTA All Stars defeating The Sault Ste Marie Steelers 21-0 and Ottawa Downed Sudbury 21-14 in a close contest. Next up Ottawa travels to Brampton to take on GTA and Sarnia will travel to Nelson Stadium for a date with The Patriots on August 11th with a 6pm kickoff.
