The Glanbrook Rangers hosted the Hagersville Hawks on Wednesday night and delighted the hometown crowd as they shut out the Hawks 5-0. The win improves the Rangers to 18-8 on the season, which puts the team in second place in the South Bloomfield Division. They’re two points behind the division leading Grimsby Peach Kings, who have two games in hand. Hagersville drops to 15-5-1-2 and are close behind the Rangers with 33 points and are in third place.
Joel Wallace got the Rangers on the board first with a goal midway thru the first period. Wallace got his first of the game at 11:21 of the opening stanza. Wallace scored his second of the game almost exactly 20 minutes later to double the Rangers’ lead. At 11:43 of the second period Wallace lit the goal lamp to give Glanbrook a 2-0 lead.
That lead would extend even further with a power play goal early in the 3rd period. Cooper Hood netted his third goal of the season on the power play at 6:44 of the period. Hood would pocket his fourth goal of the season to give the Rangers their fifth of the game, but not before Sandy Ciccarelli Jr. found the back of the net for his third goal of the season at 7:11 of the period.
With that the Rangers would take the game as they shut out the Hawks 5-0. Glanbrook netminder Mitchell Robinson stopped all 36 shots on goal to pick up the win.
Next up the Rangers will head down the QEW as they take on the Niagara RiverHawks from the Gale Centre. Game time is set for 7:30pm tomorrow night.
