The Glanbrook Rangers opened up their 2019-20 season at home on Wednesday night hosting the Hespeler Shamrocks and they didn’t disapoint fans in attendance at the Glanbrook Arena. The Rangers started strong with a goal in the opening minute and never looked back as they downed the ‘Rocks 8-3.
Noah Bollert got the scoring started early with the first goal of the game just 30 seconds into the opening period. The goal was Bollert’s first in what would be four goals in the game. Joel Wallace followed up the quick goal with his first goal of the season unassisted at 3:41 of the period. The Rangers made it three in a row midway thru the period when Noah Matteson found the back of the net with a power play marker at 11:25. Hespeler’s Nick Donelle put the visiting team on the board before the period would come to a close with a power play goal for the Shamrocks at 17:25.
After Bollert scored three straight goals to polish off the second period, Glanbrook’s Matthew Hogan found the back of the net with a quick goal thirteen seconds into the third period to put the Rangers in the lead by six goals. Devin Schneider answered back for Hespeler just 21 seconds later to get one back for the Shamrocks. The teams would trade goals once more with Nadasi Dallas netting his first of the year at 4:03 of the period as the Rangers ran away with this one 8-3.
Matt Lukic made 21 saves on 24 shots between the pipes for the Rangers.
Next up the Rangers will head to the Peach King Arena on Sunday afternoon for a matinee match against the Grimsby Peach Kings. Game time is set for 2:30pm.
