Ahead by 10 points at halftime, the Marauders effectively pulled away in the final 40 minutes Sunday to bounce back from their season-opening loss of a week earlier and defeat the Trent Excalibur.

McMaster got five tries from four players, including the first two tries of wing EJ Rerriā€™s varsity career, as the home side topped Trent 29-7 at Back 10 Field.

Christian Baldissera, Jamie McNaughton and Jacob Gold also crossed the try line Sunday, while Mitch Richardson and Cole Brown added converts.

With the win, the Marauders successfully rebounded from a heavy road loss to the Guelph Gryphons a week earlier and moved to 1-1 on the young OUA season.

Trent scored their first try of the season in their losing effort Sunday, with Blake Reid crossing the try line and Fouad Nasseri successfully converting to pull the visitors within five points at 12-7 in the first half.

But it was one-way traffic from there, as Rerri and Gold ensured an uncomplicated result for McMaster.

Next up McMaster travels to St. Catharines to take on the Brock Badgers on Homecoming weekend, with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff scheduled for Saturday, September 15.
