Short turn around for IBL Postseason

It’s a short turn around for teams of the Intercounty Baseball League as they prepare for the postseason. With the final game of the preseason wrapping up just yesterday, the first pitch for the postseason will be thrown tomorrow.

The Hamilton Cardinals finished regular season play in sixth place. The red birds had fifteen wins and twenty losses, though they finished the season with a road victory in Brantford.

The Cards will see the London Majors in the opening round. London ended the season in third place with a 20-16 record.

In the five games the two teams met in the regular season London won the first four. Hamilton took the latest game between them in a slim 5-4 victory.

Grant Arnold, who finished in third spot in League batting with a .348 average, is expected to be the Cardinals leading hitter in the playoffs. Zack Gonzalez is expected to take the mound. Gonzalez had a 5-5 record on the season, and a 3.78 Earned Run Average. He started nine games.

The best of five series begins tomorrow night at Labatt Park in London at 7:35pm before returning to Hamilton’s Bernie Arbour Stadium on Thursday night at 7:30pm. Game four, if necessary, will br played at Bernie Arbour Stadium on Sunday at 2pm.
