A big third period helped push the Kilty B’s to a 7-4 over the Niagara Falls Canucks on Monday night. The win is Hamilton’s third in a row as they look to inch up the standings in the Golden Horseshoe Conference. The Kilty B’s currently sit in fourth place, five points behind St. Catharines.
Eli Rivers got things rolling for Hamilton early as the South Burlington, Vermont native netted his ninth goal since joining the Kilty B’s. The early goal found the back of the net just forty minutes into the opening period. Niagara tied the game midway thru the period thanks to a goal from Andrew Bruno at 14:12 of the first, but Nick Giamou restored Hamilton’s one goal lead just over a minute later with his marker at 15:25.
The Canucks took the lead by the midway mark of the second period with goals from Danial Singer and Carson Edwardson, but that’s when the Kilty B’s would start a goal scoring frezy.
Over the course of the next fifteen minutes Hamilton went on a five goal run to take a commanding 7-3 lead by the 6:30 mark of the third period. Niagara Falls would manage one more goal at 17:00 of the final frame, but the lead would prove insurmountable as the Kilty B’s took the win 7-4.
Cameron Gauvreau, Nolan Slachetka (2), Nolan Underwood, and Jacob Macdonald scored in the five goal run. Justin Easter stopped 33 of 37 shots between the pipes in the victory.
Next up the Kilty B’s will head to the Gale Centre on Friday night in the back half of the home and home series. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
