David Ling scored the game winner for Hamilton Steelhawks with a shot from the right faceoff circle that caught to top left corner of the net as the Steelhawks edged the Dundas Real McCoys 5-4 in overtime in Allan Cup Hockey action tonight in the JL Grightmire Arena.
Earlier, a left goalpost foiled Justin DaSilva’s overtime-scoring attempt for the Real
McCoys with four minutes left to play in extra time.
The game was a sea-saw affair with Hamilton taking the lead four times only to have the McCoys tie the score each time, before the two clubs entered into five minutes of three-on-three sudden death overtime.
The next action for Dundas is Friday, November 29th against the Brantford Blast in the Brantford Civic Centre at 7:30 p. m. The McCoys then play the Steelhawks on Friday, December 6th at 7:30 p.m. in the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena. Dundas comes home to the Grightmire Arena to play the Whitby Dundas 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 13th.
For Dundas, Darren Haydar scored twice with Mackenzie Wood adding a goal and an assist. Kyle McNeil had the other McCoys goal. Mark Bennett and Jason Pinizzotto assisted on two goals apiece.
Josh Ranalli led the Hamilton attack with two goals and an assist. Ling scored once and set up of the Steelhawks goals, while Cam Sault and Jamie Williams added single goals.
