Stoney Creek Sabres kick off NAHA Labor Day Tourney this weekend

The Stoney Creek Junior Sabres and Stoney Creek Midget AA Sabres travel south of the border this weekend for the annual NAHA Labor Day Tournament this weekend.

The annual tournament is hosted by the North American Hockey Academy in Burlingon, Vermont and is also hosting other teams from the Provincial Women’s Hockey League from Nepean, Ottawa, Burlington, Kitchener, and Cambridge.

Both the Junior and Midget AA Sabres are participating in the tournament again this year with the Junior team in the U19 division while the Midget AA squad is in the U16 division.

The Junior girls will play three games in their round robin series, two on Friday and another on Saturday morning. They will face Honeybaked first at 11:30am, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite at 6:30pm, and wrap up on Saturday morning at 9:10am against the East Coast Wizards.

The Midget AA girls face the Minnesota Junior Whitecaps Black 16 first on Friday morning at 8am, Belle Tire at 8:50pm, and then wrap the round robin series on Saturday against the Spitfires at 12:40pm.

The top teams in each of the six divisions as well as two wild cards will advance to games later in the day, culminating with the gold medal games on Sunday afternoon.
