The 2019 OVAtion Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet was hosted at the Ajax Convention Centre on June 1st, 2019. The Banquet celebrated contributions to the sport of volleyball in Ontario and honoured outstanding athletes, teams, coaches, and referees for their achievements.

Hamilton Smash was elated to have two of our coaches recognized at this event. Mark Wu, who has been with the organization for 8 years but coaching for more than 2 decades, was the recipient of the Community Outreach Award. Not only is Mark part of the Smash family, but he volunteers tirelessly to grow amateur sport in the City of Hamilton.

Marcus Wu, who has been with Hamilton Smash as a coach for 6 years, was awarded as the Male Development Coach of the Year. Marcus was head coach for the 15U Girls team, Mentor Coach 12U & 13U Programs and Lead Coach of the Youth Development Houseleague Program which runs at Westmount Recreation Centre on Sundays. He also served on the coaching staff for Region 3 Beach Volleyball for the Ontario Summer games in 2018.

Congratulations to all OVAtion Award recipients and Hall of Fame inductees.
