Environment Canada issues heat warning for Hamilton [ ENDED ]

The heat warning was ended on July 20th at 11:53pm.

Environment Canada has issued a heat WARNING for Hamilton this afternoon. A heat warning is issued if two or more consecutive days are forecast with daytime highs greater than or equal to 31°C and nighttime lows greater than or equal to 20°C or a Humidex of 40°C or greater.

Significant heat and humidity will arrive on Friday.

Daytime temperatures in the low to mid thirties with afternoon humidex values of 40 or higher and night time minimum temperatures in the low to mid twenties are expected for Friday and Saturday.

A cooler and less humid air mass is forecast to arrive in the wake of a weak cold front Sunday.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
