Environment Canada issues ‘Heart Warning’ for the City of Hamilton [ ENDED ]

Environment Canada has issued a ‘Special Weather Statement’ for the City of Hamilton.

Warnings

5:03 PM EDT Monday 28 June 2021
Heat Warning in effect for:

  • City of Hamilton

Excessive heat and humidity continues into Tuesday.

Afternoon temperatures near 31 degrees and humidex values near 40 are expected again on Tuesday. An overnight low near 20 degrees is forecast tonight, providing little relief from the heat.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.

Very warm and humid through Monday.

A warm and very humid airmass will lie over the regions through Monday. Afternoon humidex values in the upper thirties to near forty are expected. It will be cooler near some lakeshore areas, especially today.

A slightly cooler and less humid airmass will arrive Tuesday.
