Environment Canada issues ‘Severe Thunderstorm Warning’ for the City of Hamilton [ ENDED ]


Environment Canada has issued a ‘Severe Thunderstorm Watch’ for the City of Hamilton.

4:20 PM EDT Monday 03 August 2020
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • City of Hamilton

At 4:20 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Cambridge to Paris, moving east at 30 km/h.

Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts.

Locations impacted include:
St. George, Rockton, Osborne Corners, Harrisburg, Sheffield, Troy, Lynden and Valens.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
