Environment Canada issues ‘Severe Thunderstorm Warning’ for the City of Hamilton [ ENDED ]


Environment Canada has issued a ‘Severe Thunderstorm Watch’ for the City of Hamilton.


6:18 PM EDT Tuesday 04 August 2020
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • City of Hamilton

At 6:18 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Toronto to Millgrove, moving east at 65 km/h.

Risk of a tornado

Locations impacted include:
Burlington, Oakville, Waterdown, Downtown Toronto, Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Appleby, Trafalgar, Bronte, Clarkson, Port Credit, Lakeview, Toronto Islands, The Beaches and Scarborough Bluffs.

Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
